News flash: Diets don’t work. Really? How many times do we have to have this beaten into us? We are smart people; however we somehow choose to believe the propaganda. Why do we buy into it? Is it denial, hope, fear?
In my experience with my personal training clients, no matter how highly educated and successful in business and other aspects of their lives they were, losing weight and keeping it off was always their greatest challenge.
Although my clients kept daily logs of their food intake, it’s hard to say how accurate the logs were. Yes, they were dedicated to their personal training appointments with me, but that only accounted for an average of three hours a week. What was happening the remaining 165 hours a week? How can we expect long term permanent results if we only eat well or exercise regularly just .018% of the time?
In the end the only people that that have achieved healthy and permanent weight loss and health goals were the ones that took the time to explore and implement realistic long term achievable goals, and simply addressing them one day at a time. By applying education, implementation and dedication, there is no way this triple threat will fail you.
So what about medically supervised weight loss?
I was recently talking to some of my friends about this very subject. This particular crowd of people takes decent measures to be healthy. They exercise, try to make smart lifestyle choices, but when presented with the topic of medical weight loss, the first, and only thoughts that were triggered were surgery and medication.
Clearly, we are all less than well informed.
In reality the most progressive and successful approach to medical weight loss is to focus on food. Your “diet”, not “dieting” is the golden ticket to success.
